Te Awa Syndicate Hosted a fantastic Science Fair

Tuesday 7 September

Many thanks to our participants, judges and parents,  family and friends who came to share our learning with us.

Flax Planting

TAPS students have been given the opportunity to plant and raise 200 Phornium Cookianum flax plants.

The students have planted these seedlings into pots and will be watering and weeding them until May next year when the plants will be big enough to be transplanted out in our community.

Student Voice Heard

Students from Te Awamutu Primary, along with Te Awamutu College students, presented their vision and work to date on the Mangaohio Stream - Making the Connections project to the community in the Waipa District Council Chambers recently.

The Student Voice was well received by the members of the community represented at the meeting and the feedback has been very positive.

J Rock Rocked!

A huge high five to all the students involved in J Rock 2010 at Founders Theatre and a big thank you to the parent helpers on the day.  An amazing day was had by all and TAPS picked up 3 awards.

A summary: sing star, dry ice, dance offs, makeup, hairspray, free 'stuff', hula hoops, mirrors, rehearsals, costumes, props, twister, pizza...

Fun, fun, fun!

Mangapiko Planting Day

Some Te Awa Syndicate Students had the opportunity to participate in the Mangapiko Planting Day at the Montafiore Reserve recently to compliment their inquiry focus of Ecological Sustainability in our own community.

Science Club

Science Club kicked off in Week 2 of this term with students making volcanoes in one of the sandpits.  This is a lunchtime club run by Deputy Principal Tracy Findlay and Room 16 Teacher Davina Miller.  Students of all levels have joined the Science group which meet once a week.
