Welcome to 2012!

Together Achieving Personal Success

Mā mahitahi te eke panuku a tētahi

This space will keep you up-to-date with all the exciting things Class Mangaohoi (aka Room 17) will be up to this year.

Don't forget to check out the Te Awa Syndicate page also for more photos of our learning and some online curriculum related webpages, activities, games and challenges.

Our big question for Term 1 is:

What makes a successful community?

This term we will be looking at The Treaty of Waitangi.  We will explore our Syndicate community and what makes it work well.  We will then move onto our school community and how changes, such as our Top Block renovations, impact on us as a syndicate and as a school.  From there our learning parameters will stretch to include the township of Te Awamutu.  We will be exploring the many changes in the district such as the new and relocated retailers and businesses and the new playground etc, and what positive and negative impacts these changes have had on the community, and on other retailers and the customers.

We are swimming every day in the first 6 weeks of term, so remember to bring your togs and towel (named) every day.

We will begin Cross Grouping for Math in week 2 of the term.  The students will be placed in a maths class that best suits their individual needs in Math.  We are starting the term looking at Statistics.

We are continuing with our focus on writing this year - watch this space as we plan on publishing some of our personal recounts soon.

Please remember to read the Syndicate Newsletter that came home on the first day of school.
