Te Awamutu Primary School - Kia Kaha - Be Strong

Road Patrol

To assist with road safety, a road patrol operates twice daily on Teasdale Street and on Bank Street.  These areas are patrolled between 8.30am and 8.55am and again at 3.00 pm to 3.15 pm.  The Road Patrol is supervised by adults and monitored by the Police.  Children who need to cross the road are directed to use this safety measure and parents are asked to observe this when accompanying their children to and from school.

Cycling to School

All cyclists are required to wear a helmet.  While we cannot give a minimum age, we discourage pupils below Year 5, from cycling to school.  However it is the parents or caregivers responsibility to decide when their children have adequate knowledge of the road rules and sufficient judgment and control to enable them to cycle safely on the road.

Children who cycle to school must walk their bicycles to and from the school bike stand, which is located between the Rooms 14 and 16. It is strongly recommended that all children secure their bicycles to the stand with a suitable locking device.

Buses

The cost for bus tags per term is $50.00.  We sell the bus tags at the school for the first 2 weeks of the term.  Any unsold tags are then sent back to Te Awamutu College and you will need to  purchase your child's tag through them.  We do not hold any bus tags at school as we will get billed by the bus company.

For further information regarding the bus runs and whether you qualify for free travel etc please call Mr Noel Cox the school bus co-ordinator on 021 405 560
